Buffet breakfast is included in our room rates. Breakfast is served every morning between 7 and 10 o’clock. Our plentiful assortment is topped up with freshly ground coffee and tea specialties. Subject to prior agreement and against extra charge we are able to provide suitable menus for those of our guests who are on a special diet (food allergy, special regime diet, vegetarian or vegan diet). Subject to notice on previous day, we prepare a take-away breakfast for those of our guests who plan to leave early in the morning. In case you would like to embark on a longer daytrip, we would also be glad to provide all necessary raw materials for preparing small packages for in-between snacks.

Disznótor in Hédervár
(„disznótor” is a traditional feast held to accompany a pig slaughter, where you can taste the fresh goods prepared during the day. It is a kind of parody of the reception usually held after a funeral)


DisznótorSuggested programme:

Welcome pálinka (a traditional home-made spirit with high content of alcohol) at dawn (7 o’clock), mulled wine, tea or coffee.

The pig slaughter starts around 7.30 AM [bleeding, singeing, scalding, cleaning, splitting the pig lengthwise into halves while the pig is suspended vertically on a stand, then comes the chopping, deboning, mincing, followed by the unlarding and preparation of ham, preparation of stuffing for kolbász (a kind of sausage), véres hurka (similar to black pudding), májas hurka (similar to white pudding), headcheese, chops and finally placing the final product in salting tubs]

Breakfast is served around 9 AM: liver with onions, fresh bread, pickled vegetables, wine, tea.

Lunch is served around 1 PM: broth with vegetables and noodles, roast pork, wine, mineral water.

Dinner is served around 6 PM: hurka, kolbász (kinds of sausages, see above), (mustard, horse-radish) pickled vegetables, fresh bread, traditional sauerkraut with boiled pork, wine and pálinka.

Price, information:

Participation fee: 9,500 HUF/ person (subject to a minimum of 10 people). Price includes plentiful food for the whole day and drinks (as listed above). The programme is subject to booking a room for minimum 2 nights. Room rate for the minimum of 2 nights shall be paid separately.

Around 9 AM. : start of the mutton slaughter

Lunch is served around 1 PM.: mutton stew, wine, mineral water

Pálinka tasting, selected by Szigetköz Lelke Pálinkaház (Spirit of Szigetköz Distillery)


PálinkakóstolóPálinka is a traditional home-made spirit with high content of alcohol. Pálinka tasting can take place during a visit to the distillery’s showroom in Dunakiliti-Tejfalusziget (subject to a minimum number of 10 visitors) or at a guided tasting held at our guesthouse. In the showroom of the distillery visitors can experience the birth of the pálinka from the fruit mash to the distillate.

Szigetköz Lelke Pálinkaház started out as a family enterprise in 2009. The company envisioned to restore the long lost honour of the pálinka. Genuine pálinka is made 100% of fruits, and needs to have an alcohol content of at least 37.5%. Moreover, it should not contain any rectified spirit or flavours. Distillates produced by the company are present in all major competitions and they have continuously won prestigious prizes in the field. The most important aspect for the company is that they work exclusively with food grade quality fruits and exclude all clippings from production.

To go with the pálinka tasting, there is possibility to order bread with lard, pogácsa (a type of scone), mutton stew or a previously agreed catering based supper.
